02/01/11 AM SERVICE... COMING BEFORE THE KING OF GLORY.

02/01/11 AM SERVICE... COMING BEFORE THE KING OF GLORY.

He Transcends Time, Space, Geographical Borders and Dispensational Periods.
Only those who have been saved from sins committed and sin inherent are qualified to enter His presence and to continue to stand before God.
Salvation encompasses Doing and Being, that is, Clean Hands (what we do in our actions) and a Pure Heart (what we are in or nature).

PASSAGE and NOTES...
Psalms 24:1-10

(1) A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
(2) For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
(3) Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
(4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
(5) He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
(6) This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
(7) Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
(8) Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
(9) Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
(10) Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

NOTES...
(1) A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
(2) For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
DLG notes...
While some Bible portions are time specific or at least more applicable to one dispensation than another (sacrificial laws applied to the Old Testament Israel more than to the New Testament Church), there are some O.T. passages that transcend time, space, geographical boundaries, and dispensational periods. God has proper claim to the world, as the Creator, founder and Redeemer and the Owner of the world and everything in it, including the human population.

(3) Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
DLG notes...
The Psalmist is not only asking who can enter God's presence, but who has the right to stay, abide in His presence? There are Divine standards that must be met and protocols that must be followed.

(4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart...
DLG notes...
King David's answer addressed both the Being and Doing issues. First, the Doing then the Being.
He that has clean hands. Hands are related to what we do, it is the action part of our life. Our hands must be clean, unsullied by sinful behavior. And a pure heart; the heart is related to what we are, our true self, inner man, nature. Our inner man needs to be pure, even as He is pure (1 Jn. 3:3). James tells us the problem and the solution.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

We are forgiven of our sins when we are justified and we are purged of our sinful nature when we are sanctified. This is God's twofold answer to the twofold problem of sin.
To be double mind is to have the mind of the flesh and the mind of the Spirit. We are born with the mind of the flesh. When we get saved, we are forgiven of the sins we have committed and receive the mind of Christ, we receive Divine nature (2 Pe. 1:3). New believers have both the carnal (fleshly, sinful) mind and the mind of Christ (spiritual mind). God doe not want us to be double minded, so He delivers us by removing the carnal minded.
Romans 8:6-7 (6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

(4) ...who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
DLG notes...
The saved and sanctified person refuses to turn to idols (vanity), and he refuses to speak with duplicity. This same sentiment is stated in a positive way in Psalm 15.
Psalms 15:1-2 (1) A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? (2) He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

(5) He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
(6) This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
DLG notes...
For the person who comes before God with Clean Hands and a Pure Heart, God removes all of his sin and imparts His righteousness to him.
Whenever it is, Old or New Testament, it is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek His face.

Verses 7-10 identifies the One Who sits on the throne of heaven as being The King of Glory. We should take time to worship the One Who transcends time, space, geographical borders and dispensations.
