01/03/11 MAKING TRACTS...

01/03/11 MAKING TRACTS...

I had a good time (albeit short) sharing tracts today.
There were not many people out during the early afternoon. I handed out more than a dozen tracts (to tourists and workers) and only had about 5 refusals.
went 3/4 mile up the Blvd and back again (11th Ave. S to 1st Ave.).
BTW, I reworked the New Years Tract. I will print it below. I like it much better.

REWORKED NEW YEARS TRACT...
STEPS TO SUCCESS
IN 2011

I hope as you read this, you will find it helpful. It is my way of wishing you
Happy New Year.

SIX WEEKS TOWARD SUCCESS
Regardless of our status in life, we all have common needs, such as Health, Relationships, Money/Jobs and our Eternal Destiny. While I offer only a few, simple ideas, if you apply them daily to your life for six weeks, you will be forming habits of success for the rest of the year. It is in a handy format, to be carried in your pocket as a tool.

ADJUSTING OUR FOCUS
Our Personal, Vocational and Spiritual Lives demand attention. Most people focus on their immediate concerns but they neglect their relationship with God, which is unfortunate, because God has invested so much in each of us and because we are going to spend eternity somewhere, based on the relationship we have had with God in this world.

SUCCESS IS NO ACCIDENT
Most people hope that success will fall into their laps, but the fact is, our own choices and actions help determine our success. Determine your destination, Set and Follow your course every day, regardless of the difficulties.

HEALTH
We cannot always determine the quality of our health, but we can make choices that contribute to our well being; Diet, Rest, Exercise, Attitude and Habits.

RELATIONSHIPS
We cannot make others do the right thing, but we can contribute to good relationships with family, friends or co-workers by being Honest, Forgiving, Considerate and Selfless.

VOCATION
While some people are workaholics, too many others are not dedicated enough to being successful in the workplace. Be thankful for your job; be committed to the standards and success of your company; respect others; mind your own business and don't complain.

SPIRITUAL
Most people neglect their soul and eternal destiny, but remember, the soul is eternal and the present life is only a vapor. You are going to spend eternity somewhere, invest your time, talents and treasures wisely. The present life is an investment in eternity. A successful spiritual life begins with faith in Christ, Who died and rose again, but we must also nurture a daily relationship.

ONLY CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR
SINS AND ROSE PHYSICALLY

DAILY DOs AND DON'Ts (from the Bible).
Follow Christ fully: Don't play games.
Seek God by reading The Holy Bible and praying: Don't neglect time with God, He is your life (breath, food, drink, strength, light).
Find and fellowship with others who follow Christ and the Bible: Don't be a lone wolf or hang with bad company.
Love God and your neighbor completely: Don't be self centered.
Be cleansed from all sin: Don't hold to secret sins.
Avoid all appearance of evil: Don't be careless.
Confess Christ to others: Don't hide your faith.

The idea of 6 WEEKS TO SUCCESS is based on a couple of ideas.
1- Though programs often stipulate 3 weeks or even 40 days (almost 6 weeks), I take into consideration that some of the practices only get done once or twice a week (Sunday services or midweek service) therefore I figure it needs more than the popular three weeks.

2- I have challenged new people in our church to commit themselves to faithful attendance in SS, Worship and Week Night Study for a six week period. If a person does this, they usually stay with it and grow in grace.

Therefore, I thought I would challenge those who read this tract to observed its points for six weeks.

Most importantly, I want them to do the things on the last page of the tract.

Follow Christ fully:
Don't play games

Seek God by reading The Holy Bible and praying:
Don't neglect time with God, He is your life (breath, food, drink, strength, light).

Find and fellowship with others who follow Christ and the Bible:
Don't be a lone wolf or hang with bad company.

Love God and your neighbor completely:
Don't be self centered.

Be cleansed from all sin:
Don't hold to secret sins.

Avoid all appearance of evil:
Don't be careless.

Confess Christ to others:
Don't hide your faith.

Remember, all of these points are actually God's revelation and not simply my own ideas. Therefore, I expect them to bear fruit and not return to God void. If a person does these things for six weeks, his life will probably experience a transformation.

Concerning WORKERS...

I do not bother people while they are involved in their jobs, whether resort people, city workers or otherwise. However, if someone is not occupied with a task, I will offer them a tract. Sometimes I see a cop or a security guard at a point where my approach is not disruptive; a street worker on break, resort worker between assignments (they are often crossing the street or waiting for a bus, etc.) I will offer them a tract. In fact, I don't even interrupt vacationers. I am looking for people who will not feel that they have been accosted. I want them to be favorably impressed with Christian graces.

AN OBSERVATION...

It is interesting how people will follow their leaders, even if the leaders they follow are not really their leaders.

If 1 person in a group refuses to accept a tract, it is not strange for others to follow their lead. People who might otherwise accept the tract become lemmings.
