02/08/11 VERY IMPORTANT TRUTH...
Christians are citizens of heaven and pledge their allegiance to the God of the Holy Bible. Only He is our King, Judge, Lawgiver, Savior.
Christians are citizens of heaven and pledge their allegiance to the God of the Holy Bible. Only He is our King, Judge, Lawgiver, Savior.
This is the point I am always trying to drive home with my "political" statements. Sometimes Christians look to the State as either
1- our savior, our judge, our king, our reward, our goal and destination, our master, a worthy objective, or
2- an unrestrained enemy, a destroyer of the Church, an unconquerable foe, an all powerful and evil task master.
Too much time, energy, money, attention is spent on trying to save a sinking vessel, while we should be obeying our Captain in reaching for the perishing. As someone said, "People are straitening the pictures on the wall while the house is burning to the ground."
Our young people are being sacrificed on the altar of temporality, immorality, wealth, power, earthly kingdoms, while the world rushes headlong into the dark and eternal abyss of separation from God. There are plenty of people to bear the sword of steel to fight for a hopeless cause, but where are those who follow fully and wield the sword of the Spirit?
Jesus said,
John 18:36
(36) Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
God tells us,
1 Timothy 6:11-12
(11) But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
(12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Hebrews 10:30-38
(30) For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
(31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
(32) But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
(33) Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
(34) For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
(35) Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.
(36) For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
(37) For yet, a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
(38) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
