01/19/11 PM SERVICE... GOD IS
GOD IS:
LORD OF LIFE;
RIGHTEOUS RULER;
BENEVOLENT BENEFACTOR;
GIVER OF EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT;
JUST JUDGE;
RESURRECTED RETURNING RULER, KING OF KINGS AND LIFE GIVING LORD OF LORDS. (notes in comment box).
HE IS THE LORD OF LIFE LENDING HIS OWN NATURE TO SELECT CREATURES.
God Gave His Life To Adam
Genesis 2:7
(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
DLG notes... God did not give His life to everything. God did not give His life to all creatures (angels, animals or plants). The only creature we know of that received the very life of God was Adam and the human family.
God Has The Words Of Life
John 6:68
(68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
DLG notes... After Jesus had told His disciples to eat His flesh and drink His blood, many of them left Him. They did not understand that He spoke of spiritual communion or feasting, not physical consumption. Remember, He also said that the flesh profits nothing, and He spoke of the spirit, not the flesh (Lk. 6:63).
Christ Is The Prince Of Life
Acts 3:15
(15) And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
DLG notes... It is interesting that He is referred to with a royal title. He rules the realm of the living. Remember, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
God Gives Eternal Life Through Jesus Christ
Romans 6:23
(23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
DLG notes... We are not eternal. We had a beginning. Only God is eternal. We also forfeited our lives through disobeying God. But, when we trust Him as Savior and follow Him as Lord, He gives us eternal life, life without end, life as it was meant to be. Not only has He given us physical life and the potential for spiritual life, He gives us newness and eternal life; Christ is our life.
God Crowns The Christian Life With Eternal Life
James 1:12
(12) Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
DLG notes... Faith secures eternal life, as long as faith is secured in Jesus. The person who endures temptation and remains faithful will receive the crown of life, will reign with Him in eternity.
HE IS THE RIGHTEOUS RULER, REIGNING IN THE HEARTS OF HIS PEOPLE
Remember, rebellion to God's sovereignty is not an argument against God's sovereignty.
God ruled over the angels in heaven, until Lucifer rebelled with 1/3 of the angels.
God ruled over Adam in the garden, until Adam rebelled against God.
God ruled over Israel, as long as they did not follow the false gods of their day.
God rules over those who believe on Jesus Christ.
The kingdom of God today is not a political, geographical, material kingdom. He rules by righteousness in the hearts of men who faithfully follow Christ.
Acts 26:18
(18) To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
DLG notes... No one can serve two masters, therefore those who come to Christ must renounce the way of Satan.
John 12:35
(35) Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not whither he goes.
DLG notes... Being in the kingdom of God requires that we live under the domain of God.
2 Corinthians 4:6
(6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
HE IS THE BENEVOLENT BENEFACTOR, BESTOWING BOUNTIFUL BLESSINS ON HIS CREATED BENEFICIARIES.
God is good to all mankind, even those who reject Him.
Matthew 5:45
(45) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Acts 17:24-25
(24) God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;
(25) Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life, and breath, and all things;
Romans 2:4
(4) Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?
HE IS THE GIVER OF EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT TO HIS GRACE RACE
This point differs from the previous because it addresses God's blessings especially provided for believers.
Romans 8:32
(32) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
1 Timothy 6:17
(17) Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded; nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
HE IS THE JUST JUDGE
God judges all things meticulously and fairly.
2 Timothy 4:8
(8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
1 Peter 2:23
(23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:
DLG notes... Even Jesus trusted the Father with judging the issues and persons that surrounded His earthly life.
HE IS THE RESURRECTED, RETURNING RULE, THE CONQUERING KING OF KINGS AND LIFE GIVING LORD OF LORDS.
Christ will rule over His earthly kingdom and then He will reign with His Father forever.
