02/19/11 PUT YOUR BIG ANCHOR OUT AND HOLD FAST

02/19/11 PUT YOUR BIG ANCHOR OUT AND HOLD FAST

We all go through times when we feel like we are spinning our wheels, banging our head against a brick wall, running in circles or we are in free fall and can't get out of it.

But, Be Not Weary (Ga. 6:9-10),
Hold Fast (1 Th. 5:21),
Fight The Good Fight (1 Tm. 6:12);
or as I say,
Put Your Big Anchor Out (He. 6:19),

If You Can't Make Headway,
Don't Lose Ground.

Trees that are firmly set
produce in their season (Ps. 1:3).

PASSAGES...
Galatians 6:9-10

(9) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
(10) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

1 Thessalonians 5:21
(21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1 Timothy 6:12
(12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Hebrews 6:19
(19) Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;

Psalms 1:3
(3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

Sometimes it is sickness, or set back after set back or disappointments or loss of standing and influence. There are so many different ways to get in this situation.

This past three weeks have been a time of "holding on" for me. My fatigue was relentless. The only times I was not "wiped out" was while I was preaching or teaching or involved in rigorous physical activity (like Pball). I couldn't help it. I couldn't study like I wanted or write like I usually do. I felt almost useless.

But, faith is about being, even when our doing is limited. There are times when my faith may not be able to do much, but it can, Not Do that which is wrong. Remember, the tree produces in its season. We are called to be faithful "in season and out of season."

When the storm is hitting us head-on, we can't push hard into the waves, but we can keep headed in the right direction and we can remain steady, as long as we keep our hope in Him.

Being in this kind of a situation does not mean there is sin in our lives. However, if we give up, lose faith, stray from the way, we will allow sin into our lives.
