09/08/11 IF YOU WERE THE WEATHER

09/08/11 IF YOU WERE THE WEATHER

If YOU were the weather, how would the weather man report your arrival?

"Bright and Sunny" or,

"Hurricane (insert your name) will be making landfall, evacuate the area" or,

"A Tornado of fault finding is touching down, take shelter" or,

"A Drought of negativity has scorched our community" or,

"A Flood of criticism has wiped out entire families" or,

"A Hail Storm of anger will crush all homes in its path" or,

"Beware, A Cold Front of selfishness may destroy your crops.

CONSIDER THE DEVASTATION LEFT BEHIND...

Hurricanes (and violent tempers)... I have seen some of the devastation left by hurricanes, and I have seen the devastation left by turbulent people. Sometimes the victims rebuild, sometimes they can't, sometimes they won't. Sometimes victims rebuild repeatedly, but eventually there is nothing left to rebuild.

Tornadoes (and proud, jealous attitudes)... Tornadoes and self appointed police scream in on certain targets, totally destroying them, while leaving nearby properties untouched.

Droughts (and life draining relationships)... Dry, burning conditions, whether in the atmosphere or in a person's parched soul, scorches whatever it touches, leaving it lifeless and useless.

Floods (and uncontrolled judgmentalism)... Torrents of water and criticism indiscriminately wash away everyone, of every age and gender in its path, while the deluge of catastrophe continues to wipe out other hapless victims, with no regret.

Hail Storms (and spiteful people)... I have seen the destruction left by hail stones the size of grapefruit and burst of anger the size of cannonballs. When a person is battered by such a forceful barrage, it can be deadly.

Cold Fronts (and cold hearts)... Winter storms, blizzards, freezing temperatures and ice hearted, insensitive people ruin lives and kill relationships.

AN OLD SAYING...
Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

Likewise, we can talk all we want to about spiritual upheaval, but we can't do anything about it. HOWEVER, Jesus is able to speak to our soul in conflict, and say, "PEACE, BE STILL." He is able to calm the storm, dispel the upheaval, change the condition of our heart. Christ not only forgives us for the path of destruction we have left behind us, He transforms us into tsunamis of love. Jesus is the answer.
