10/24/11 UPWARD OR DOWNWARD, YOU CHOOSE

10/24/11 UPWARD OR DOWNWARD, YOU CHOOSE

Psalm 1:1 contrasts the "blessed" with the "ungodly."

The blessed person is the one who dwells in a right relationship with God and enjoys the benefits of the heavenly kingdom, such as

SITTING
together in heavenly places (Ep. 2:6),

STANDING
in the grace of God (Ro. 5:2),
in the power of God (1 Co. 2:5),
fast in the faith (1 Co. 16:13),
against the wiles of the devil (Ep. 6:11).
in victory (Ep. 6:13-14),
in the Lord (Ph. 4:1),
perfect and complete in the will of God.

WALKING
in newness of life (Ro. 6:4),
the Spirit (Ga. 5:16),
in faith (2 Co. 5:7),
in good works (Ep. 2:8),
worthy of God's calling (Ep. 4:1)
in love (Ep. 5:2),
as children of light (Ep. 5:8)
circumspectly (Ep. 5:15),
worthy of the Lord (Co. 1:10),
in the Lord (Co. 2:6),
in wisdom (Co. 4:5),
worthy of God (1 Th. 2:12),
in truth (1 Th. 4:12).

But the ungodly lives in the subterranean world of

WALKING in the counsel of the ungodly,

STANDING in the way of sinners, and

SITTING in the seat of the scornful

Psalms 1:1
(1)  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Sin's downward death spiral is

RESISTANCE
to God's revelation and following the lies of the world becomes,

REJECTION of God's will and way by living a life of disobedience (sinning), which eventuates in

RIDICULE of God, Himself.

Train your heart and mouth in godliness or you will excel in mockery and insult. I see it everyday.
