10/26/11 WAKE UP

10/26/11 WAKE UP

On my FB Timeline I recently posted a video that was designed to lull you into a warm fuzzy feeling, then suddenly accost you with a startling and disturbing image and sound. It was more effective if the viewer was alone and relaxed.

A GREAT METAPHOR. Most of our society has cut themselves off from the wisdom and support of Christians and have been lulled into a mental and spiritual stupor. But one day there will be a rude awakening.

PASSAGES...
Proverbs 6:9-15

(9) How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
(10) Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
(11) So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
(12) A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
(13) He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
(14) Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
(15) Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

Proverbs 29:1
(1) He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Hebrews 10:26-31
(26) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
(27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
(28) He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
(29) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
(30) For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
(31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 12:25-29
(25) See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
(26) Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
(27) And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
(28) Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
(29) For our God is a consuming fire.
